The apartment is located approximately 250m or a 3 minute walk from the beach and the main
square, which is the centre of village. Unlike most of the recent developments around
Carvoeiro the apartment is centrally located, on the flat, in the heart of the village.
It is therefore ideal for those more mature visitors who may have difficulty with hills or steps.
The village of Carvoeiro is located in the central Algarve. Approximately a 40 - 50 minute drive
from Faro airport. Please see (www.carvoeiro.com/guide/airport) for directons to the
apartment from the airport. First ‘discovered’ in the 1970’s when it was a small fishing
village it still retains its quaint ‘village’ charm and is home to both a local and ex-pat
population. There is plenty for all age groups in the village with an abundance of good restaurants
and friendly bars and beach side cafes and a couple of nightclubs. For more information about
Carvoeiro, including resort and weather information, please visit
www.carvoeiro.com
Just a little reminder... if you are looking for a boisterous ‘Falaraki’ type holiday, please
don’t book our apartment but go instead, to Falaraki!!
General Information about the Algarve
Portugal and the Algarve in particular is steeped in history and tradition while
still being considered fashionable and chic. Due to sensible planning regulations,
the Algarve still retains a local charm that has been lost in certain Mediterranean
resorts crowded with high rise developments.
With approximately 300 days of sunshine the Algarve has a fascinating mix of beaches,
good food and wine coupled with some breathtaking unspoilt beaches.
The Algarve is now synonymous with golf, there being over a dozen top-class golf courses
available. In addition there are numerous tennis and riding centres. For the more adventurous
there are water parks such as Zoomarine where you can swim with the dolphins and watch sea
lions and seals performing.
There are plenty of water sports including windsurfing, diving, jet-ski hire, para-gliding
and surfing on the west coast is becoming increasing popular. Boat trips along the coast,
river trips, deep sea fishing or even a dolphin ‘seafari’ - where you will be able to see
the dolphins in their natural environment - will ensure there are plenty of activities
for all age groups.
The ideal climate provides a location to play golf well into the autumn and early winter,
outside of the traditional tourist seasons when the area is considerably quieter. All this
and only a couple of hours flying time from the UK, ideal for a weekend, a long weekend or
a couple of weeks away from the UK weather!
